Started prototypying
Dave Hakkens starts to work on Precious Plastic as part of his studies a the Design Academy in Eindhoven.
2015
Won an award and continued
We won a 10K award and used it to hire a machine builder to improve machines and develop a new version.
Early 2016
Version 2 Released
Precious Plastic Version 2 is released to the world. Improved machines and better blueprints made it easier to build machines and start recycling.
Late 2017
Released Version 3
Precious Plastic Version 3 is released to the world. A workspace inside a shipping container and many new recycling techniques
Mid 2018
Won a big award
We won the Famae award of €300k. We allocated the entire budget (minus one chocolate bar) for a new version
Jan 2020
Released Version 4
The Precious Plastic Universe is released to the world. 8 Starterkits, 3 new Pro Machines, +30 tutorial video, a Sheetpress and business models. All aimed to recycle higher volumes and financially sustain recyclers.

Setup Precious Plastic Foundation
We (finally!) setup a legal structure for Precious Plastic. A Non-Profit in the Netherlands
2024
Precious Plastic got in trouble
Up until now we spend all our money on developing solutions and it was all shared Open Source online. The organisation itself was suffering. We shared our problems with the community
2025
Fundraising Version 5
We set down and wrote the plan for Version 5, it went online with a crowdfund. The goal is to first strengthen the organisation, then continue development.
